This Privacy Policy explains how Moka ("Moka", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Moka application and website (mokapp.me). Moka is operated by Christopher Lecrinier. If you have any questions, contact us at support.mokapp@gmail.com.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication details, handled through our authentication provider.
Learning data. Your progress through the app — kanji studied, exercise results, review history, and related settings — so the app can track your learning and schedule reviews.
Usage and analytics. Anonymous events about how the app is used (for example, screens viewed and sign-up steps) and an anonymous session identifier stored on your device, used to understand and improve the product.
Purchase information. If you buy a subscription or a one-time purchase, your purchase and subscription status is processed by our payments partner and the app stores. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details — those are handled by Apple, Google, and our payments processor.
Microphone / speech. The pronunciation exercise uses your device's built-in speech recognition to check spoken readings. Audio is processed by your device's operating system speech services (Apple or Google) for that purpose. We do not record or store your audio.
Device and notifications. If you enable push notifications, we process a device notification token to deliver them. We may also process basic device information needed for the app to function.
Local storage. We store preferences and session information on your device to keep you signed in and remember your settings.

2. How we use your information

To provide and operate the app, including your account, learning progress, and reviews.
To process and manage purchases and subscriptions.
To understand usage and improve the product.
To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
To send notifications you have enabled.

3. Legal bases (EU/EEA users)

Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on the following bases: performance of our contract with you (to provide the app and your account), your consent (for example, microphone access and notifications, which you can withdraw at any time), and our legitimate interests (to keep the app secure and to improve it).

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with service providers that help us run Moka, and only as needed to provide the service:

Authentication & database (storing your account and learning data).
Subscription management (processing purchase and entitlement status).
Apple App Store and Google Play (processing payments).
Hosting (serving the app and website).
Device speech services (Apple or Google) for the pronunciation exercise.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

5. Data retention

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support.mokapp@gmail.com. You can also request deletion of your account and associated data at that address.

7. Children

Moka is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date above.
